Review: Bobbi Brown Peony and Python Palette (Limited Edition) Spring 2011

Bobbi Brown Peony and Python Palette ($50 for 0.24 oz or 0.04 oz/eyeshadow) consists of six eyeshadows- Opal (shimmery pale silver), Lavender (metallic lilac), Cool Ivory (matte light brown), Cobra (shimmery dark silver), Plum Orchid (satin dark eggplan) and Eclipse (satin black).

This adorable palette first caught my eyes due to its color coordination – silvery plus lavender plus plum- you cannot go wrong with it. All colors are very wearable. The packaging is designed by Tibi exclusively for Bobbi Brown. Zipper details bring modern twist to this elegant eyeshadow set. The quality of two mini-brushes are surprisingly good.  I did not expect them to be that soft and dense. The nice big mirror in the palette would be perfect when you are in hurry or in need of  touching up during the day.  It is also travel-friendly. You have highlighters (e.g. Opal), lid colors (e.g. Lavender, Cobra) and crease shadow/eyeliners (e.g. Plum Orchid, Eclipse) in one place. I used Urban Decay Primer Potion as the base and got more than 5-hour wear.

As much as I want to love this palette, I am disappointed by very poor pigmentation of all the eyeshadow. Cool Ivory did not even show up on my lids. I had my hope for Plum Orchid and Eclipse but they are not true to the pan. Plum Orchid looked almost like dark grey on me. It was a "what the heck" moment. The more I packed colors on, the muddier they became. The worst eyeshadow palette ever. This is one of the most regrettable beauty items I've ever bought.

Recommendation: For fans of cute packaging and sheer colors, this is worth checking out. However, if color payoff is all you care about, I think you can safely skip it.
