Certain beauty goodies sit on your vanity counter nearly untouched yet you can't let them go. They're stunning and high-quality, and most importantly right up your alley. You open the case from time to time staring at them then close it. They just don't look good on you. That sucks! That's the story of Nars Cordura in my beauty world.
Nars Eyeshadow Duo in Cordura ($34 for 0.14 oz) consists of a gorgeous warm rich brown and a deep brown. Both have golden shimmer that blends seamlessly with the pigment. It definitely gears more toward dramatic looks but you can use either or both shades to define the sockets, outer V or lash lines. It works well with other palette thanks to the brown theme. I can only see myself using it for the lash lines. I rarely rock dramatic brown eyeshadows because it falls into the abyss of my brown eyes, dark hair, warm medium complexion. It's just too much.
Cordura is highly pigmented and the texture feels rich and soft. They last for good 8 hours with a standard primer. Like the rest of Nars line, Cordura is housed in sleek rubber case. It's sturdy and tiny, a great traveling companion but it attracts dust easily.
Bottom line. Nothing about this duo can I complain, only it turns my eyes into panda's not even as cute. My eyes look heavy and tired. Still, I highly recommend you give it a try.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this palette or if you have an item like this in your stash. You love but you can't wear.

Wow--that dark brown shade almost looks purple. It's pretty, though I suppose I could see how it might make one look like they have black eyes...
ReplyDeleteYeah, sadly it doesn't look right on me :( It's a gorgeous duo. Thanks for stopping by Becca!
Deletei try not to buy things i can't wear anymore lol. but i do have some warm shades in palettes that i just can't wear, which is always disappointing. and smoky eye things, i have a tough time giving those up even though i almost never wear smoky eyes anymore...! anyways, i remember a friend in college really LOVED this duo. We were in a huge nars phase back then, though we were poor college girls working at madewell! :) thanks for the memories, haha!
ReplyDeleteI was definitely in a Nars craze when I got Cordura! The whole "Orgasm" theme a few years back, I remember well!
DeleteYou know what, I wish we lived close, I'd do smokey eyes for you. I think I've learned "how to" for Asian eyes. And the thing is, smokey is the technique. It doesn't imply that you have to line your inner rims or the shadows must be deep. Anyway, if only.... That'd be awesome!
Hi Joanne, this looks like a beautiful palette for fall (though not if it's giving you panda eyes). I would probably focus on the darker color as a smoky liner with a pencil brush and add small touches of the coppery color as highlight since it's a bit warm for my taste! This has been on my list for a while, but I just haven't jumped :)
ReplyDeleteI got more use of the darker shade than the warm brown for the same reason. It's too warm on my skin. Thanks for stopping by Dovey. Adore your blog!
